
Position: General Manager
Department: Administrative and General Reports to: Director of Resort Operations Position: General Manager SUMMARY of POSITION Recruits, develops, and directs a talented staff towards superior guest and associate satisfaction, business revenue growth, cost containment, development and implementation of effective sales and marketing strategies, achievement of profitability goals and raising of operating standards. Plans, organizes, staffs and leads accounting, front desk, housekeeping, food, beverage, sales, engineering, water sports, technology, and security operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Manages all financial matters of the company’s business operations in a fiduciary capacity, ensuring fiscally-responsible Company financial operations at all times. 2. Oversees and facilitates interactions between Vacation Ownership Sales Office operations and Resort operations to ensure Company’s business goals are realized. 3. Actively manages the financial statements and develops goal oriented business plans to support the financial goals of the Resort and the Company, which includes creating accurate and aggressive long and short range financial objectives consistent with company’s mission. 4. Communicates effectively with guests, staff, and corporate executives. 5. Works closely with corporate sales and marketing department to promote resort and create new programs in response to market conditions and revenue opportunities. 6. Ensures good safety practices of employees and guests and assists in the maintenance of property emergency and security procedures. 7. Directs activities of Management team: a. Directing the efforts of the management staff to ensure quality customer service to guests at all times and smooth operations throughout Resort; b. Hiring, training, and leading the management team to ensure superior guest and associate satisfaction; c. Assessing and reviewing the job performance of management team and working closely with HR presence on Resort level to maintain personnel records; d. Directing the efforts of the Resort dive management staff to ensure safe, quality dive services and operations, including dive instruction and boat repair, maintenance, scheduling and captaining. e. Monitoring the performance of the dive and souvenir shop operations, ensuring adequate inventory and standards of service and staffing levels; f. Monitoring the performance of each Resort department and ensuring maintenance of adequate standards of service and staffing levels; g. Assisting staff by providing assistance when needed, requiring performance of any position at any given time. 8. Fully utilizes and follows through with guest comment programs responding quickly to deficiencies and taking corrective action. 9. Maintains high personal visibility and professionalism throughout the property and maintains appropriate level of community public affairs involvement. 10. Coordinates internal training and development programs. 11. Maintains knowledge of local competition and general industry trends. 12.
